Peterson's Photo of the Month

July - 'Office Staff Out Milling'

On the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island, a Peterson sawmill was used by one of our office ladies to cut up some native logs that had been buried in swamp land for over 1000 years.

Layla Robinson and her boyfriend Robert Crafar along with his brother Owen, spent one day locating the logs and filling in forms for permission permits.

On the second day, using a JCB loadall, they dug seven logs out of the swamp and placed them on level ground. The third day they returned with the mill; a 10” wide frame WPF with a 23hp diesel motor (soon to be released to the public).

Using Peterson’s simple double cutting principle, Layla cut this awesome 20” x 3.5” x 3m long slab as well as 10” x 10” beams and 5” x ¾” boards for flooring material.
