| Our State Representative Jim Whitaker recently went to the Maleny Wood Show. While at the show he milled up a Blue Gum (Forest Red Gum) Burl with his Peterson Clip On Slabber.
He salvaged the Burl from a tree that had been pushed over by a bulldozer about 100km from his home town in Queensland, Australia.
A burl is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. It is commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds. Burls are the product of a cambium and results from a tree undergoing some form of stress weather environmental or introduced by humans. |
