This was a first for Mark and Tammy Allen - a log that wouldn't fit into their Winch Production Frame. And understandably so! I'm not sure where you would find a portable mill that could handle this beauty.
This is one of six tulip poplar logs that Mark and Tammy have recently picked up from a nearby construction site, all coming from one huge tree that was unfortunately in the way of a new sub-division.
Surprisingly they found it hollow when it came down, but there is still plenty of good wood around the hole that will make for some great lumber. There is a lot of spalting, and the log is covered in burl that goes at least 12 inches into the log, but they say spalted wood sells well. So if you are interested, keep an eye out on eBay!
