Ulf Stuhmer is training a community from Abenguru, Ivory Coast, where forests are cleared of second and third class trees to enable better trees to grow. This means that locals have the opportunity to mill the trees to sell at markets.
The Reforestation Project of the German Society for Technical Cooperation, have two All Terrain Sawmills (ATS) which Ulf trained the community for five days. Ulf said that they were eager to learn how to operate the ATS, and needed very little training. "As they have grown up using chainsaws, I didn't have to tell them anything about wood, only how to cut it."
"They were very amazed on how fast the Peterson mill cut with accuracy, in all situations".
